Awa Odori is a Japanese folk dance that was started at the Tokushima prefecture about 400 years ago. The EJCA Awa Odori Club has been dancing at various occasions such as Heritage Day Festival, the Kurimoto Japanese Garden Spring Festival, and other festive occasions.
The club members are enjoying the dancing. At the same time it has an opportunity to demonstrate Japanese dance to Canadian society in general.
“The dancers are fools, the watchers are fools, both are fools alike, so why not dance?” Young and old, ladies and gentleman, all are welcome to join the club.
