EJCA's next film screening is back by popular request.  A double feature with a choice of delicious bento!

     11:00 AM - 12: 00 PM Sleeping Tigers: The Asahi Baseball Story

A 50-minute National Film Board documentary tells the story of the Asahi baseball team. The team was unbeatable in pre-World War II Vancouver, winning the Pacific Northwest Championship five-years straight. While interned during the war, the former Asahi  members survived by playing baseball and their contagious passion resulted in other players joining in, helping to break down racial and cultural barriers. (English)

     1:00 - 3:00 PM: The Vancouver Asahi

A 134 minutes movie by Yuya Ishii is based on the 27-year history of the Vancouver Asahi. The film provides a good introduction to the Asahi baseball team and is wonderful for those who love baseball. (English subtitle)

You can come to the screenings with or without a Bento order. As usual, popcorn and beverages are free with or without Bento order.

午前11時～12時 『眠れる虎たちー朝日野球団の物語』

50分のカナダ国立映画製作庁ドキュメンタリー、朝日野球チームの物語を描く。第二次世界大戦前のバンクーバーで無敵を誇り、太平洋北西部選手権を5年連続で制覇したチーム。戦時中の強制収容所生活では、元朝日団員たちが野球を通じて生き生きと生活し、その情熱が他の収容者も巻き込み、人種や文化の壁を打ち破るきっかけとなった。

12時～1時: 昼食

1時～3時 『バンクーバーの朝日』

石井裕也監督による134分の映画。バンクーバーの朝日野球チームの27年にわたる歴史を基に制作された本作は、朝日野球チームを知る上で優れた入門編であり、野球愛好家にも素晴らしい作品である。
