Japanese Lessons

The EJCA offers Japanese language classes to its members.

Japanese Language Programs are offered to EJCA members only.  Please complete the EJCA membership registration before applying to the language program: Become a MemberMembership is valid for one calendar year.  You need to renew your membership by January each year.

Classes will be cancelled if the number of applications is less than minimum numbers. Your fee will be reimbursed.
You will be on a waiting list if the maximum numbers are reached.

Registrations start in December for a Winter session, March for a spring session and August for a Fall session. 

There are four Japanese Language programs:

(1) Japanese Language Classes

A. Japanese for Adult with three levels, online classes, click for details

B. Japanese for Teens with three levels, online classes till, click for details

(2) Summer Camps

Teens Japanese Language Summer Camp

      In-Person Japanese for Teens Spring 2023  

     L1-3 : In-person Total Beginner

    Date: April 16 to June 11, 2023 (8 Sundays)  No class on May 21  

    Time: 1:00 to 3:00 pm. 

    Location: EJCA Centre,  6750 88 Street, Edmonton

    NOTE: Unfortunately, we will not be offering the introductory level this term. If you are interested in the introductory level, please register for the fall term.

    There are 3 terms, Fall, Winter and Spring. (e.g. L1-1, L1-2)

    Textbook is "Marugoto A1: Rikai and Marugoto A2-1: Katsudo.

    All classes will include discussion of Japanese culture, conversation and other topics in addition to using the textbook.

    Note: Teens classes are limited to students who are "thirteen or older" and "18 or younger" as of September 1, 2022. 

    If you are not a EJCA member, please apply for a membership at Membership (ejca.org) Once it is approved by EJCA, you can apply to the class. It may take one day for an approval.

      Online Japanese for Teens 2023 Spring  

    L2-3 : Online Beginner Intermediate

    Date:  April 18 to June 20, 2023 (10 Tuesdays)

    Time:  5:00 to 6:30 pm

    Class will be on Zoom.

    Textbook is "Genki I: An Integrated Course in Elementary Japanese, 3rd edition.

    All classes will include discussion of Japanese culture, conversation and other topics in addition to using the textbook.
